Bleeding Mole

 

There may be many reasons for a mole to bleed. A bleeding mole can be caused by annoyance while a mole is scratched or rubbed  with the skin or clothing.  It could also be caused by an accident while shaving the skin with a razor blade.

The mole may have had hair plucked or cut away causing it to bleed. This will not remove the hairs permanently and eventually the hairs will grow back again.

Some people may unconsciously pick or scratch the skin.  A bleeding mole may or may not pose a medical threat but to be sure, see a dermatologist.

It is wise to make contact with a doctor or dermatologist if a mole continues to bleed on a regular basis. If you have a mole that bleeds, and you are sure you have not just scratched it,  get it checked.

Ordinarily mole growth is quite normal and most humans have one,  however if you notice any changes to the mole it wise to visit a doctor.

With moles it is always wise to look for any warning signs such as being itchy or bleeding as this could indicate a link to melanoma. The risks involved in bleeding mole can be determined by the dermatologist. If you have a slight doubt and you are not sure why your moles bleed you have to take steps to have them looked at.

Usually a biopsy is required to find out the size of the tumor prior to removal. When a biopsy is required it is usually to asses the size and type of tumor.

Some other indications of a cancerous mole may be a scattered or uneven edge or even roughness in the mole. Other cases of cancerous moles show moles that have more than one color; some other instances of cancerous moles show a different than usual coloration in the pigment of the bleeding mole.

Moles that are not symmetrical on both sides are potential for melanoma and moles that grow larger than pea size can be dangerous.

If the bleeding mole is also showing the previous signs mentioned, it may not only be cancerous, but may also have metastasized and should be removed.

A bleeding mole can be avoided by removing the mole with hairs permanently. Generally a bleeding mole with protruding hairs is removed quite easily.

Usually we find people with a hairy mole tend to try shaving the hair off, so make sure this is not the cause of bleeding.

Moles can be removed by surgery, cauterization, laser treatment or freezing. It can be done at the doctor’s office and commonly requires a local anesthesia since it may be sore. Or there are many in home natural ways to remove a mole.
